I am a mom with school-age kids and I am a therapist. So, by definition, I spend a lot of time on the road dropping off, picking up and making visits. When we have a free day, a place has to be pretty amazing to motivate me to get back in the car. Especially to leave my zip code. Can you relate? Well pack the snack bags and water bottles, Mom. The Glazer Children’s Museum is totally worth the drive to Tampa.
This gem opened in September of 2011 and boasts two stories of activities for kids and their parents to explore and experience together. Little ones will enjoy working in the kid-size grocery store and veternarian’s office (all I could think was how I want to replicate these in our clinic someday). Big kids can practice their newscasting skills with a teleprompter and blue screen. Very cool.
There are two climbing structures and a host of physical challenges for active children. And everyone – including parents - is mesmerized and involved in water play at Kids’ Port.
Check out the website at http://glazermuseum.org  for ticket pricing. Make note of the museum’s partnership with Target. Together they are offering Two Dollar Tuesday the first Tuesday afternoon of the month. June 7 is just a couple of days away.
Just outside the museum are a splashpad and a large lawn, so you may want to pack bathingsuits and a picnic to make a day of it. What a fun place to visit with your little learner!
